The first was the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana (CFMI), founded in 1954 to promote and give concrete form to commercial initiatives and to communicate a unified image of Italian fashion. CFMI unites representatives of national and territorial public bodies and private associations of entrepreneurs; its composition thus mirrors the complex dynamics of the economic and political interests that revolve around the fashion system production line. It so achieves functional and strategic integration among sector industrial associations, entrepreneurial associations in the national textile/clothing production districts and the Florentine and regional economic categories, and territorial government agencies. CFMI currently sets general trade fair policy guidelines for Pitti Immagine and for Ente Moda Italia, which operates in the foreign trade fair sector.
