Mauro Volponi was born in Florence and began his career as a salesperson in one of the city’s historic boutiques. His love of shoes took concrete form when he opened his first store in Sesto Fiorentino (1975), next came the one in Forte dei Marmi and then in 1986 the shop in downtown Florence where the whole world can admire them. The brand’s success is rooted in Mauro Volponi’s love of beautiful things and especially those that are still made by hand using first quality materials – and of course, strictly Made in Italy. Mauro Volponi works with top artisans; he chooses the finest leathers to shape into sophisticated styles – in each season’s fashion colors. The contemporary looking shoes and bags still have a touch of classic elegance; the jackets are works of art and enhanced with unusual finishes such as colored stone or Swarovski jewel buttons, and he takes fine skins such as mink and presents them in bold, unusual colors.
