Ombretta Maffei
A passion that began during adolescence surrounded by needles, threads, mannequins that belonged to her seamstress sister, was nurtured in design schools and developed into a calling and a lifetime dedicated to designing and making exclusive clothing. This passion and drive enabled her to open her atelier in 1978 where she has been making custom clothes for any occasion ever since. Ombretta Maffei understands and interprets each client’s tastes and needs: she recommends the right style, fabric and colors to make elegant, formal, romantic or sporty items in fine natural fabrics (cotton, linen, brocade, cashmere, angora, vicuna, etc.). And, with an eye for details and the quality of the “hidden” parts such as the linings she puts them together according to the finest dressmaking traditions.. She also had the ability – and good fortune – to transmit this passion to her daughter Beatrice who has taken up this craft of excellence and become a skilled fashion artisan. The two women are continuing together to the great satisfaction of their Italian and international clientele. The enthusiasm that Ombretta conveys when she meets with fashion school students is so strong that she has encouraged many young people to embark on careers in tailoring and dressmaking.
