Ottino
Ottino began in 1830, manufacturing and selling evening bags, walking sticks and fans and went on to become the official supplier of the Royal House of Savoia, with the right to display the royal coat of arms. The shop quickly became a reference point for the European aristocracy passing through or staying in Florence. After World War II, Ottino entered the field of leather goods and broadened its client base to include wealthy middle class merchants and business people. There are many Florentine craftsmen who work with Ottino, making each item by hand to the firm’s exclusive designs. Ottino uses many different types of hides that are tanned in Tuscan workshops – but they are all natural and the finest, from Louisiana crocodile to calfskin, to lambskin “nappa” to the deerskin and chamois that we see in the 2010 collection. The men’s and women’s accessories, bags, briefcases, belts, wallets and luggage are distinguished by classic, yet very current styling. In addition to the leather goods, Ottino makes a selection of exclusive, impeccably made umbrellas, silk – and wool - scarves, ties and shawls.
