The Polimoda is located in the splendid Villa Strozzi in Florence. It is acknowledged as a center of excellence for fashion education and training in Italy. Since it was established in 1986 it has been attended by students from the world over. During any given academic year, there are over 950 students in the classrooms and about 35% of them are from abroad. What is even more important is that 94% find jobs within 6 months of graduation and 91% of those, in renowned fashion firms from Armani to Benetton, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, Max Mara, Trussardi, Valentino, Nike, Prada, Krizia, Kenzo, Gucci, etc.
We are talking about Polimoda, the international school of fashion, design and marketing born from an initiative developed and financed by the cities of Florence and Prato, business associations and an agreement with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) of the State University of New York. Ferruccio Ferragamo took office as president in March 2006; he is the CEO of the multinational Salvatore Ferragamo and previously vice president of the school.
Polimoda's trump card - that makes it possible to guarantee its graduates a secure future - is the continuing contact with the business world. This makes it possible to offer a rich curriculum that prepares qualified professionals who can immediately find a niche in the fashion world, not only as designers, but in all the related positions as well. In 2002, the school launched the only spin-off of its kind, Polimoda Srl. This firm provides fashion consulting in order to fulfill the several needs of companies in the field: contacting talented students and enhancing the professionalism of their own staffs through special projects developed for fashion firms.
Polimoda graduates have found work in Italy and abroad thanks to the close and ongoing relationships between the school and the business world. Top professionals in the industry meet with student during the courses and help with the final fashion show. At the conclusion of their courses, the students do 3-6 month internships at the big-name fashion firms.
